The Man, The Legend
In the mid to late 1960s, Buford Pusser was the Sheriff of McNairy County and singlehandedly took a stand against organized vice crime in the area. His unorthodox law enforcement methods gained the attention of many, including some dangerous enemies.
Buford became the target of multiple assassination attempts during his career - one of which resulted in the tragic death of his wife, Pauline. After her death, his emotional suffering led him to seek vengeance on the criminals responsible for her death.

The life and legacy of Buford Pusser has inspired many people over the years, including those in Hollywood. Several movies have been created based on the life and career of Buford Pusser including 1973's "Walking Tall" and most recently "The Rundown" starring Dwayne Johnson.
Plan ahead for your visit to the Buford Pusser Home and Museum because their operating hours are limited. The museum is open Thursday - Friday from 11am to 4pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm. They are closed Sunday through Wednesday to the public.

The Home and Museum
The Buford Pusser home is located in Adamsville - just a short 10-15 minute drive from the Green Acres RV Park. Plan for a couple hours of time in order to fully experience the home and take the tour.
For an immersive experience, you may want to visit during their commemorative festival which includes a car show, 5k run, story telling, and more. For more information about upcoming events, refer to the museum's website.
Buford Pusser's home has been maintained with the original furnishings and memorabilia owned by the Pusser family. It was donated to the city by his daughter as a monument to her father's contributions.

Very cool place to visit. Remembered watching his movie as I grew up, so was very nice to go to see and here the story's people had to tell, some lived near by had great stories.
